To understand competition within healthcare verticals, there are a few options. If you have the Healthcare Data Package, healthcare facilities and providers are listed in the Points of Interest section under the Healthcare tab. This allows you to visualize healthcare locations within a trade area or other defined geography. The categories include:

  • Hospital: available by 12 unique types, including both general acute and specialty hospital facility types

  • Healthcare Facilities: includes 80 facility types organized within five categories

  • Medical Providers: available by 240 specialties, sub-specialties, and allied health providers in 40 categories

  • Dental Providers: available by seven unique provider types

The second option to identify competitors is using the Search feature in SCOUT, searching the internet based on named competitors, specialty, service, or whatever your use case. The search results can be added to the map for visualization. In addition, you can add a pushpin layer for ongoing tracking and identification of your competitors.

The third option to identify competitors is using the Businesses category within the Buxton Data section of SCOUT. This tool enables you to search and visualize business locations for large organizations, including more than 5,600 retail brands, retail health categories, and by NAICS code. If your competitor is included in the list, they can be added to the Competition Cotenants category within the Your Data section for ongoing tracking and identification. If they are not in the list, please use the internet search option.
