From within the Mobilytics report, you can understand where your visitors are coming from and where else they go before or after visiting your study area location. This information is available within the frequently visited places section of the report and can be used to perform a cross-shopping analysis.

Benefits

This allows you to see visitor behavior in context, helping to,

  • Understand customer behavior patterns

  • Identify competitors and opportunities

  • Optimize marketing and promotions

How to Run a Cross-Shopping Analysis in Mobilytics

Step 1: Define Your Location for Analysis

The first step in running a cross-shopping analysis is to identify the area you want to study. Select an existing territory from within SCOUT or the Mobilytics module, or freehand draw a custom area to analyze.

For example, if you're interested in a specific Goodwill store, you can select that store on the map. To get a better understanding of visitor movement, switch to a hybrid map view to clearly see landmarks like parking areas, and then draw a shape around the full area you wish to analyze, including drop-off zones if relevant.

Step 2: Run the Mobilytics Insight Report

Once your territory is mapped, you'll have the option to run a Mobilytics Insight Report. This is available if Mobilytics is part of your subscription. For more details about running the report and customization options, view this article.

Step 3: Review the Report

Once the report is complete, you can access it directly from the Mobilytics notification menu or find it later in your SCOUT report menu view. Within the report, you can start diving into a variety of insights.

Step 4: Explore Frequently Visited Places

For a cross-shopping analysis, you will want to focus on the frequently visited places section. This is where you can see where else your visitors go. The report will display the top 5 places that your visitors went to during your selected timeframe.

For example, if analyzing a Goodwill store, you might find that visitors also frequent a nearby town center or other shopping venues.

You can filter this analysis by:

o Visit Time: See where visitors went before, after, or at any time.

o Location Categories: Identify specific categories of places they visited, such as department stores, bookstores, or specialty shops.

Map View of Frequently Visited Places

Beyond lists and charts, Mobilytics provides a visual representation of frequently visited places on a map. This allows you to see the proximity of these locations to your analyzed site, offering a spatial understanding of visitor behavior and potential cross-shopping patterns.

Applications for Cross-Shopping Insights

You can use the results of this cross-shopping analysis to:

  • Understand Competition: See where your visitors are also shopping and identify potential competitors.

  • Identify Visitor Behavior: Understand patterns in where customers go before or after visiting your location.

  • Optimize Business Strategy: Use insights to refine marketing strategies, partnerships, or operational hours based on where and when your visitors shop.

Mobilytics helps you maximize your location-based insights, enhancing overall customer understanding and informing strategic decisions.
