Overview
The Demand Analysis tool provides a quick way to understand the Points of Interest located within a selected geography.
Instead of displaying multiple Points of Interest layers and potentially cluttering the map with overlapping icons, Demand Analysis identifies the available Points of Interest within your geography and provides a count for each applicable layer.
Use these results to understand what types of businesses, services, facilities, or other Points of Interest are present within a market or area of study before deciding which layers you want to visualize on the map.
Access the Demand Analysis Tool
Before opening Demand Analysis, make sure the geography you want to analyze is displayed on the map.
Right-click the applicable geography and select Demand Analysis.
SCOUT analyzes the selected geography and displays the available Points of Interest in the Demand Analysis panel.
Review Point of Interest Counts
Demand Analysis organizes Points of Interest into groups similar to those available within the standard Points of Interest menu.
Select a group to expand it and view the available layers and the number of locations found within your selected geography. You can browse through the groups or search for a specific Point of Interest layer.
This allows you to quickly determine what is present within the geography without displaying every Point of Interest layer on the map.
Display Points of Interest on the Map
Once you identify a Point of Interest layer you want to explore further, select the layer from Demand Analysis to display its locations within the selected geography.
This allows you to move from a high-level count to a visual analysis of the individual locations without having to navigate back through the standard Points of Interest menu.
Note: If a Point of Interest layer does not appear in Demand Analysis, there are no locations from that layer within the selected geography.
Using Demand Analysis
Demand Analysis can be useful when you want to quickly understand the businesses, facilities, services, or other Points of Interest located within a market.
Start with the available counts to identify which Points of Interest are present, then display individual layers when you need to understand where those locations are positioned within the geography. This approach helps keep the map focused while still allowing you to explore the surrounding market in greater detail.
