Overview
The Business Analysis tool provides a quick way to understand the businesses located within a selected geography. Instead of displaying all available business layers and potentially cluttering the map with overlapping icons, you can use Business Analysis to view business counts and selectively display the locations that are most relevant to your analysis.
The tool uses the Competition, Co-Tenants, and Saved Businesses layers available in your SCOUT menu and summarizes the businesses that fall within the geography you're analyzing.
Access the Business Analysis Tool
Before opening Business Analysis, make sure the geography you want to analyze is displayed on the map.
Right-click the applicable geography and select Business Analysis.
The Business Analysis panel will display the applicable business layers along with the number of businesses found within the selected geography.
Review Businesses Within the Geography
Business Analysis organizes your available business layers and provides a count for each one. This allows you to quickly understand how many businesses from each layer are located within the geography without displaying every business on the map at once.
You can toggle individual business layers on or off from the Business Analysis panel. When a layer is enabled, the corresponding businesses within your selected geography are displayed on the map.
This makes it easier to move between a high-level count of businesses and a visual representation of their locations while reducing unnecessary map clutter.
Identify Businesses Near Your Locations
Business Analysis can also help you understand the relationship between your locations and nearby Competition or Co-Tenants.
Open the final tab of the Business Analysis tool to display your locations within the selected geography. From here, you can view the three closest Competition or Co-Tenant businesses to your locations.
This can help you understand which tracked businesses are located closest to your existing locations without manually comparing individual points across the map.
Using Business Analysis
Business Analysis is useful when you want to evaluate the presence of Competition, Co-Tenants, or Saved Businesses within a market while keeping the map focused on the businesses relevant to your analysis.
Use the business counts for a quick understanding of what is present within the geography, then toggle individual layers on when you need to evaluate their locations visually. You can also use the proximity information to understand which Competition or Co-Tenants are closest to your locations.
