How to Edit a Location Information Window

Learn how to Edits a Location Information Window.

Written by Maddie Wolfe

Overview

The Information Window provides quick access to important data associated with a location without requiring you to perform additional analysis. You can customize the Information Window to control which fields appear, the order in which they are displayed, and how certain values are formatted.

Once the Information Window is customized, the updated configuration is applied to your locations, providing a consistent view of the information that is most relevant to your organization.

Note: Only an Admin User can edit the Information Window. If you do not see the Edit option and believe you should have Admin permissions, contact SCOUT Support for assistance.

Access the Information Window

To view the Information Window, select a location on the SCOUT map.

From the Information Window that appears, select More to view the additional information associated with the location.

The expanded window displays the currently configured location information. If you have the appropriate Admin permissions, you will also see an Edit option.

Choose Which Fields to Display

Select Edit to customize the fields displayed in the Information Window.

From the editing interface, drag the fields you want to display into the applicable area. Arrange the fields in the order you want them to appear in the Information Window.

To remove a field from the Information Window, drag it back to the available fields on the left side of the editor.

This allows you to prioritize the location information that is most useful to your organization while removing fields that do not need to appear in the window.

Customize Field Names and Formatting

You can also customize how individual fields appear in the Information Window.

Select a field to edit its displayed name. This can be useful when a custom or non-standard field name needs to be presented differently for users viewing the location information.

Formatting options are also available for applicable fields. Use these settings to make values easier to interpret based on the type of information they contain. For example, a sales field can be formatted as currency, while a website field can be formatted as a clickable link.

Apply the Updated Information Window

After completing your changes, the updated Information Window configuration is applied across your locations.

Users can then select a location and open its Information Window to quickly access the fields and formatting configured by your Admin User.

Add Site-Specific Data

If your organization has a data feed agreement with Buxton, additional site-specific data can be provided for use within SCOUT.

Applicable data can then be made available with your location information, allowing users to access additional site-specific details directly within the platform.

Contact your Buxton representative if you have questions about adding additional location data through a data feed.
