Data Information
Blockgroups
A geographical unit used by the United States Census Bureau. It is the smallest geographical unit for which the bureau publishes sample data. Blockgroups generally contain between 600 and 3,000 people with an optimum size of 1,500.
CBSA's
Core Based Statistical Area. A U.S. geographic area defined by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) that consists of one or more counties (or equivalents) anchored by an urban center of at least 10,000 people plus adjacent counties that are socioeconomically tied to the urban center by commuting.
Census Regions
Groupings of states and the District of Columbia that subdivide the United States for the presentation of census data. There are 9 total : A) West Pacific B) West Mountain C) West North Central D) West South Central E) East North Central F) East South Central G) New England H) Middle Atlantic I) South Atlantic.
Census Tracts
Census Tracts are small, relatively permanent statistical subdivisions of a county. They are the third geographic subdivision in the FIPS system following state and county, but preceding block groups. Census Tracts average about 4,000 inhabitants.
City Limits
Designates the geographic coverage in jurisdiction for individual municipalities.
Counties
The largest administrative division of a U.S. State.
DMA's
Designated Market Areas. A region where the population can receive the same (or similar) television and radio station offerings, and may also include other types of media including newspapers and internet content. They can coincide or overlap with one or more metropolitan areas, though rural regions with few significant population centers can also be designated as markets.
States
Denotes the 50 individual state boundaries within the United States.
Zip Codes
Layer visualizing the system of geographic postal codes used by the United States Postal Service.
